Meet Dr. Norma McLauchlin

hey there woman of God

Let Me Hep You Be The Best Version Of Yourself

International speaker, Amazon Bestselling author and publisher, International and TEDx speaker, Dr. Norma ”First Lady” McLauchlin, was born and raised on a farm in Reidsville, North Carolina, a small town north of Greensboro near the Virginia border.

As a product of the sixties, she was instrumental in integrating the white high school in her county. After graduating from high school, McLauchlin spent the next 2 ½ years in the US Army as a Communications Center specialist, where she met her spouse, Dr. Allen McLauchlin. The next six years were spent in Fayetteville, NC, before relocating to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Dilkon, Arizona, for almost three years, before moving back to Fayetteville, NC, where she still lives.

During that time, McLauchlin started New Life Christian Academy to support her son's education after experiencing issues with his education in the local public school. She was determined that he received the best education possible as a Black male. Her heart is still with literacy of Black males, especially through the third grade. Her mantra is "If we do something about literacy and forgiveness, of the absent father syndrome, our boys will set the world on fire with their knowledge and self-confidence".

In 2013, when Dr. Norma McLauchlin started Chosen Pen Publishing, LLC, she obeyed a call. When she shares her story, she admits she planned to enjoy her retirement from Fayetteville State University and do nothing else.

Her plan certainly only included books to read them.

All that has changed, and now, almost ten years later. Today, Dr. Norma McLauchlin is an Amazon international best-selling author, international and TEDx speaker, and an award-winning publisher of more than forty self-help and inspirational books for coaches, entrepreneurs, and writers. As an experienced founder with a demonstrated history of working in the literary industry, Norma is committed to advancing women entrepreneurs and authors and helping them turn their purpose into profit.

As a Master Literary and Personal Development Coach, McLauchlin uses her earned advanced degrees focused on Business Administration and Management from Virginia Tech and North Carolina State Universities.

Norma has been featured as a literary expert on media outlets like Fox, NBC, CBS, USA Today, Read You Later with LaSheera Lee, Conversations with Stevii, Biz Boost Live, see @NormaMcLauchlin lintr.ee, Dr. McLauchlin has been a keynote speaker and presenter at various events.

In addition, she’s conducted numerous writing craft workshops for writers’ groups and book conferences and offers online writing courses. Visit her chosenpenacademy.com for details. Whether choosing to publish a journal, memoir, devotional, or a work of Christian fiction or nonfiction, many authors have become Amazon best-sellers through the guided assistance of Chosen Pen. Now, as they embrace 2023, Chosen Pen is adding another work to its already successful story: the campaign for childhood literacy, locally and of international proportions.

During the pandemic of 2021, Chosen Pen initiated its first childhood campaign by hosting a summer podcast series spotlighting authors of children’s books. During this same year and the following year, Dr. Norma’s grandchildren wrote their first book. Then, in September and November 2022, members of the Chosen Pen team traveled to South Africa and Paris, France. That is when the commitment to childhood literacy expanded even further.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of many people, Chosen Pen Publishing has partnered with Robin Hills Primary School, located in Johannesburg, South Africa. This partnership includes hosting curricula-based programs, sponsoring the rebuild of the school’s library and computer labs, and the formation of an EPals Project that will foster relationships between the students of New Life Academy (a school established under the direction of Pastor McLauchlin and Dr. Norma McLauchlin) and Robin Hills Primary.

The library, currently under renovation, will be officially dedicated in March 2023. At that time, a team from Chosen Pen Publishing, in addition to many other authors of children’s books and advocates of childhood literacy, hopes to deliver 1000 books and 20 computers to the school. If you’d like more information or to partner with this “Literary Movement,” contact Dr. Norma McLauchlin at contact@chosepen.com.

Although McLauchlin is proud of her literary works, her greatest joy is the literary accomplishments of her grandchildren Eden, seven years old, and Haven McLauchlin, 11 years old. They are both published authors with books translated into French and on bookshelves in Africa, and the Oldest Black publishing company and bookstore in Paris, France.

McLauchlin tells them they will always sell books, so they will always be safe.

After watching television shows about global warming and the environment, Eden was inspired to do something to clean up playgrounds and highways of plastic. He added other ways to help others experiencing difficulties in any situation.

Eden will release a book about forgiveness and absent fathers next month. In addition, he is working on a series of books about Captain Cleanup and goes to Africa to assist with their environmental problems and absent father situations.
